Excellent kit, very fair price and the instructions for making a Clouser were far better than watching a video in that I can just have it in front of me without having to pause and rewind, thanks Bob
The best flies ever
The first fly I would use is two Clouser Deep Minnows!
Clouser flies are tied several different ways. I have used them all. These flies were tied just perfectly with not too much material and not too little. I purchased just a few to determine this, and will place a larger order and I'll use them for giant snook and tarpon in Belize. Furthermore, the guides I fish with want a bunch as well since they can't get Clousers like this which make a big difference.
Can’t beat Bob’s patterns!
J's Hopper was everything I was expecting ... a great tie and a great profile.
I think the book is great. I also have the video. I'm a real big fan of the Clouser minnow which I think is the best all-around fly you can have.
This digital download of The Fly Tying Techniques of Bob Clouser & Lefty Kreh - Fifty Years Behind the Vice is a great view of two fly fishing friends and tyers bringing together their years of tying their unique and original flies! Bob and Lefty work their magic using the different techniques that have proven successful throughout their careers. With the passing of Lefty Kreh, this may be the best visual presentation of Lefty tying his classics. Of course, Bob Clouser flies are world renown and tying instructions exist everywhere, but watching a master at work is a different matter. Even if you have tied for decades, there is always some little point to learn. For those just starting out in fly tying, there is nothing like watching two life long tyers show you how it is done from beginning to end. I would recommend this video to anyone who is serious about tying. These fly tying techniques and flies should be in everyone repertoire - they are the classics of our time! And I might add that the reviewer has been tying for decades and has still learned a thing or two from the digital download.
